Abstract
A study is made of the effect of variation of dosage of flotation reagent on flotation performance as well as the promoting effect on flotation of oxidized coal produced by different kinds and dosages of fatty alcohol. Test result indicates that the hydrophobicity of coal particles is much improved due to absorption of fatty alcohol onto oxygen-containing functional groups though hydrogen bonds. This leads to,consequently, higher yield of flotation concentrate and, hence, better flotation performance index. And the greater the number of carbon atoms in fatty alcohol, the more pronounced the promoting effect of fatty alcohol becomes. At a dosage of fatty alcohol of 0. 3 kg/t,a comparatively most remarkable promoting effect can be produced.
