    A study of the stressed state of the wall of a coal storage silo

    • In order to bring to light the law governing the distribution of stress on the wall of the coal storage silo,an analysis is made of the stress to which the silo wall is subjected,with the silo at Shidonggou Coal Washery as the object of study,by means of finite element analysis software. Through analysis,the characteristics of the distribution of the stress is brought to light. The result of analysis indicated that: the structure of the silo can meet the required load-bearing capacity; the maximum hoop stress appears at the point of 1 /4 h( h-the distance from the center of gravity of silo’s conical part to the computed cross-section; and the constraining effect on silo wall produced by the annular collar is obvious to a certain extent.
