Abstract
Through physio-chemical analysis of coal mine waste and red mud, their mineral and chemical compositions have been respectively brought to light. The paper presents a brief description of the process and mechanisms of the release of acid from refuse during its spontaneous combustion and the release of alkaline substances from red mud. It points out that the mechanisms as mentioned above may serve as a basis guiding the comprehensive utilization of such waste and red mud. Following an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of making sintered bricks using refuse red mud mixture as material, the technique for stacking coal mine waste and red mud in a mixed manner is proposed. It is concluded that the use of the method can achieve the expected result.
