    Numerical simulation of the shallow-bath heavy medium separator’s medium feeding parameters

    • Following an introduction to the structure of the shallow-bath heavy medium separator,a simulation is made of the pattern of motion of medium in bath using Fluent software.It is intended to bring to light the law governing the variation of upward medium flow in the vertical direction in the case that only upward medium is fed,by comparing the velocity of medium in the separation zone inside the bath with that at the medium inlet.The optimum horizontal medium feeding angle is also made known through a study of the effect on the flow field inside the bath produced by different horizontal medium feeding angles,under the combined effect of upward and horizontal medium flow.Result of simulation indicates that when the horizontal medium is fed at an angle of 40°,a more rational distribution of flow field inside the bath can be found.
