    Study and improvement of the size of aperture of the sieve bend used at Panji Coal Preparation Plant

    • In order to improve the slime recovery efficiency of the heavy-medium separation system and better control the feed size of the flotation system of the plant, test is made with two types of sieve bends-one with an aperture size of 0.20 mm and the other, 0.40 mm, to make a comparison of their working performance. As indicated by test results, compared with the former, the fine-slotted 0.20 mm bend can work with a theoretical partition size of 0.139 mm, a percentage of correctly placed coarser particles of 94.35% and a percentage of correctly placed finer particles of 88.07%, well demonstrating its ability to recover more coarser particles; and when used for sizing at a partition size(S50) and a designated size(Sd) of 0.15 mm, the bend can work with sizing efficiencies of being 85.16% and 85.07% respectively, which are all higher than those of the bend with an aperture size of 0.40 mm. It proves to be feasible to use this type of bend in place of the one with an aperture size of 0.40 mm.
