    The approaches adopted for reducing consumption of heavy medium at Zhaolou Coal Mine Washery

    • Through analysis of the problems encountered in operation of the heavy medium separation process, the factors causing the primary heavy medium system to operate with a relatively high consumption of heavy medium are brought to light. Through the adoption of a series of countermeasures and technical approaches including rational preparation of medium suspension, improvement of medium draining and magnetic separation efficiencies, addition of medium suspension adaptive intelligent control system and strengthening of medium management, the medium consumption per ton of coal treated by the primary washing system is effectively reduced from originally 2 kg down to 1.71 kg, making it possible to effectively reduce the operating cost.
