Study of the technology for in-depth separation of the slime generated in coal preparation plants in Lu'an Mining Area

    • In order to realize reduction of slime output, an analysis is made on the properties of the slime and its separated products using X-ray diffractometer, X-ray fluorescene spectrometer and laser particle size analyzer. Based on the result of analysis, a combined slime in-depth separation scheme of using hydrocyclone for sizing plus normal and reverse flotation processes is finally selected for upgrading of the slime, As shown by study result, the slime in Lu'an Mining Area is dominantly composed of coal, kaolinite and quartz; when the feed pressure of the 4# hydrocyclone is 0.2 MPa, the kaolinite can get enriched in its overflow, and a clean coal product with a yield of 34.31% and an ash of 10.90% can be recovered from the slime; and the use of the scheme is an effective approach for reduction or minimization of the volume of the coal slime produced by the plants. The research-derived achievements contribute to clean and efficient utilization of coal.
