    Progress of research on grinding process theory and equipment

    • Liberation is an important prerequisite for mineral separation and recovery, and the degree of liberation has a direct bearing on mineral separation indices. Grinding is the key link in mineral liberation process. In view of the fact that grinding operation is high in consumption of energy and materials, an analysis is made in the paper of the grinding mechanisms, energy consumption and grinding aids used in grinding process, and grinding process simulation. Following a detailed description of the structures, working principles and technical features of the ball mill, stirring mill, tower mill, vertical mill and high-pressure roll mill, as well as the grinding mediums and auxiliary grinding technologies applied in grinding process, a brief account of the grinding process control technologies currently available is presented. The study made provides a theoretical basis for further improvement of grinding efficiency, reduction of energy consumption, promotion of exploitation and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, and also provides the methods and reference for the study of liberation of other minerals.
