A brief account of the development of the gravity-fed 3-product heavy medium cyclone

Through dedicated development of the gravity-fed 3-product heavy medium cyclone over the past several decades from introduction of the technology to making independent R&D of such cyclones, there have appeared now in China multiple versions that all lead the world in technical level. The paper presents a brief account of the course of the development of this kind of cyclone in the early stage, its further developments in recent years, and the performances of the cyclones in industrial application, with the focus particularly placed on the special features and performance of the NWSX and 3GDMC versions.
